Barrels, for example, can fulfill both pf the catagories. Merchant tenants require 8 blocks of their room to have commerce-related items, and another 8 blocks need storage-related items. Tenants look for how much space is being taken by items with their preferred colony tag. You can also choose a race by putting a certain decoration in the room. Its weird because in my planet base, I made appartements with (station ceiling vent,small mounted monitor,basic metal desk,padded metal chair,plastic plant,metal cabinet,durasteel bed,hylotl city poster,rubbish bin) inside them and all I could get were hylotl merchants, Im guessing the poster is why they were all hylotl but the storage space from the (basic metal desk,metal cabinet,rubbish bin) is what makes them merchants?Īfter doing some tests, only certain containers makes merchants appear and it needs to give the npc 18 storage slots minimum. Sounds like you are simply surface-skimming and not finding it. But Starbound actually gives you some idea of what to do next.
